PHOTOGRAPHY

Over the last few years I have developed an interest in photography, in particular pet and wildlife photography. Working with Dogs and Cats has given me an excellent opportunity to develop the best ways in which to photograph them, capturing both their physical appearance and their character. I particularly like black and white photography, a selection of which you can see below.

I tend to specialise in portrait photography, I like to give each animal I photograph a feel of their natural character, something I am mindful of in “breed” portrait images, capturing a breeds character is essential in portraying an animal in the correct light.

“Wiggy” and “Breeze” are willing subjects, the colour of their coat on a black background lends itself well to black and white photography.

“Moosey” and “Schnapps”

These images below were done to portray a breeds character and will be used to illustrate the British Shorthair chocolate self, on a club website.  They are better suited to their original colour, as mono would produce a “black” Cat, when what is required is “chocolate”

As mentioned earlier, breed portraiture is a favourite of mine, demonstrated here by the beautiful Afghan Hound, they should look “through” you and have an Eastern or Oriental expression, as seen here:

My work has been featured in magazines such as “Practical Photography”, and many of my photographs were used in a breed book “Border Terrier.”
